A Mother’s Day Legacy of Love

I wanted to give a little Mother’s Day Legacy tribute to a special woman in my life that has shaped me. Some of you know that I was raised mostly by my Daddy {Bless his heart}. Truly, he did such an amazing job of being a present, caring and patient Dad. And he still is! We have such a special bond that I wouldn’t trade for anything in the world. He taught me so much about life and love!

Me & Mr. Mom (aka my Dad)

My “Mother in Love”

Mark and I met when we were just teenagers (little babies.) Even though we are in our 30’s we have been together 17 years (!) While I certainly believe I hit the jackpot with Mark, his family is just as incredible. They welcomed me into their family from the start and have been instrumental in my life and our marriage as well. I thank God all the time for the blessing of wonderful in-laws!

Mark’s Mom has always been one of the strongest, most kind women I have ever known. I’ve truly never known another woman liker her. She’s always been such a go-getter and has taught me so many things. Even now she has been jumping in to help us with the Carolina Cottage! She helped my Dad and I pull the old fireplace off and so much more. Her support of Mark and I’s dreams has made all the difference in my life.

The Family Business

One of the reasons why we are able to do so much renovating our personal home, rental, Caroline Cottage and the RV Property is due to Mark’s previous skills as a plumber. He is actually a 4th Generation Plumber! His Grandma on his Dad’s side, Anna Ruth, was the first licensed female plumber in the state of South Carolina.

Mark’s Mom also ran a very successful plumbing business for many years. One of the many reasons why I find her so inspiring is how she ran her business while loving her family so well. The plumbing industry doesn’t typically have a lot of females so I feel like they both deserve so much extra credit for succeeding where it may have seemed impossible.

Mother’s Day Legacy Continued

For many years, Mark was a plumber until he felt a nudge and decided it was time to try something new. It’s nice to know he has a skill not to just to help us, but also in case we ever need a fall back plan. {Here’s a sweet video of him trying to teach me some plumbing skills.}

Mark has been slowly teaching Jackson the “family business” as well. No matter what Jackson decides to do in life, he will have an amazing skill set already.

Jackson

I’m thankful for a husband that takes time to invest in his children and their futures. His Mom set the tone by modeling this to him not just with plumbing, but in so many other wonderful ways. One of my greatest hopes and prayers is that we are building up children who will grow up to be wonderful spouses and eventually parents. {Sevi will be the most fun mom and Jackson will be the sweetest Dad.}

Jackson and Sweet Sevi

Ok, let me go sit in a corner and cry now just thinking about my babies being grown and having their own families one day!

He “earned” (hard work pays off) a position as a Computer Engineer for the government. Our youngest son is following in a couple of years and I’m doing my best to be graceful. It’s a bittersweet for sure.
